How do I cancel a job that I posted on Elance?
Scenario 1.
If you have not clicked the Award button to hire a provider for your job, you can cancel the job as follows:
1. Log in to the MyElance Main Menu.
If you are not logged in, enter your Elance username and password.
2. Click the Workrooms link on the left panel.
3. Click on the name of the job.
4. Click 'Settings' tab in the right section of the job name.
5. If the period to receive proposals has not ended, click the 'End Bidding Now' button.
6. Next, go back to the Settings tab, and click the 'Cancel Project' button. You will be asked to enter the reason for canceling the job, so that we can provide some feedback to the service providers who submitted proposals.
Scenario 2.
If you clicked the Award button to hire a provider for your job, but then decided to cancel it, please follow the steps below:
1. Use the Elance Private Messages and provide the service provider sufficient notice regarding your cancellation.
2. Pay the service provider for any completed work per your contracted terms of the job.
3. Click the Workrooms link on the left navigation panel
4. On the right hand side of the appropriate project, click the ‘Select Action’ > ‘Cancel Job' link. (Alternatively, you may also click the project name and from the top Workroom menu, click the More > 'Cancel this Job' link.)
5. Fill in the cancellation details and click the Submit button.
6. The cancellation request will be sent to Elance who will confirm the cancellation with your provider. After the confirmation, the job status will reflect the cancellation.
Please allow 1 week for Elance to complete the cancellation process.
