As an employer, how do I cancel a job I awarded?

Before canceling your job, make sure to pay the service provider for any completed work and inform them of your decision on the Private Message Board.

To cancel your job:

1. Login to the My Elance Main Menu.

2. Click the Workrooms link on the left panel

3. On the right hand side of the appropriate job, click the ‘Select Action’ > ‘Cancel Job' link. (Alternatively, you may also click the job name and from the top Workroom menu, click the More > 'Cancel Job' link.)

4. You will be prompted to either modify your Terms page to reflect the decrease in total job amount (scope reduction) or to go to the cancellation form to submit a cancellation request to Elance.  If the cancellation needs to be processed by Elance Support, please allow 10 days for Elance to complete the cancellation process.

When to modify your Terms vs. submitting a cancellation form:


Escrow Projects

Do you want to reduce the whole job amount to zero and cancel the job completely?

* If you have NOT yet funded Escrow - You'll be prompted to submit the job cancellation form.  Elance support will review the request and contact the professional.

* If you HAVE funded or released from Escrow and want a full refund - You'll be prompted to submit the job cancellation form.  Elance support review the request and contact the professional.

Or are you simply reducing the total job amount?

* If you have NOT yet funded Escrow -  Zero out or delete the appropriate milestone(s) on the Terms page and send to the professional.

* If you HAVE funded Escrow (but not yet released Escrow) - Zero out or delete the appropriate milestone(s) on the Terms page and send to the professional for acceptance.  Appropriate refund (if any) will be automatically processed after approval.

* If you have RELEASED funds and want a refund - You'll be prompted to submit the job cancellation form.  Elance support will review the request and contact the professional.


Standard Projects

Do you want to reduce the whole job amount to zero and cancel the job completely?

* If you have NOT yet made any payments - You'll be prompted to submit the job cancellation form.  Elance support will review the request and contact the professional.

* If you PAID ALREADY and want a full refund - You'll be prompted to submit the job cancellation form.  Elance support will review the request and contact the professional.

Or are you simply reducing the total job amount?

* If you have NOT yet made any payments -  Zero out or delete the appropriate milestone(s) on the Terms page and send to the professional for acceptance.

* If you PAID ALREADY, but no refunds are necessary - Zero out or delete the appropriate milestone(s) on the Terms page and send to the professional.  The  changes will take effect after acceptance.  Please be sure to leave final feedback.

* If you PAID ALREADY and want a partial refund - You'll be prompted to submit the job cancellation form.  Elance support will review the request and contact the professional.  Please be sure to leave final feedback.
