How much does it cost to be an Elance employer?

There are no fees to post your job on Elance, receive proposals from and interview service providers, or award your work to an Elance service provider.  While standard job posts are free, you have the option to highlight your job post as a Featured Posting ($15) or a Business to Business Posting ($50) to gain additional visibility for the job on Elance, or limit proposals only to the largest service providers on Elance.

Elance collects its fees by collecting a Service Fee of 4% - 6% directly from the payments you make to your service providers via the Elance platform.   When you hire a service provider on Elance, you agree to use Elance for all payments to that service provider for a minimum period of one year so that Elance may collect this service fee.

In paying your service provider using Elance, you also gain free access to Elance Escrow, optional 1099 tax filings and Dispute Assistance services.

If you choose to opt-out of using Elance to pay your service provider, you must agree to pay a $179 opt-out fee per job which enables Elance to collect our fees in lieu of the standard Service Fees we’d otherwise collect.
