What is the Elance account activation deposit?

As a first time employer on Elance, we ask that you activate your account with a one-time, fully-refunded $10 deposit. You can use your Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card or your PayPal account to provide the funds. This deposit is automatically refunded in 10 days - no strings attached.

We take this deposit to help make Elance a safe place to do business. It shows that you are serious about engaging with Elance professionals and confirms you are over 18 years of age.
